Jeff and I celebrated our two-year wedding anniversary on the 9th day of living in Ethiopia. It was a surprisingly special day. Our compound has a tukul (a traditional round Ethiopian house). The three other expats living here—Faith, Andrew, and Emily—surprised us with an anniversary dinner in the tukul which was set up with a private table, candles, and music. They cooked us a sunset dinner with empanadas, pasta, and a chocolate peanut butter cheese cake for dessert. It was a very special and symbolic start to our year-long journey…one that we are sure will be filled with interesting people, places, and adventures.
A couple of monkeys decided to crash the party.
Did they know about Jeff's PB/choc thing, or was that fortuitous? What a nice event...
