Just Another Delivery

A few weeks ago, I was eating breakfast on a peaceful Sunday morning when a clinic guard arrived to tell me the midwife Desalegn needed help with a delivery. When I arrived in our L&D, he pointed to the tiny laboring woman and her enormous abdomen. Either she had an abnormally HUGE baby (which is quite rare here in Ethiopia), a lot of fluid around the baby, or there was more than one little-one in there. Sure enough, after we delivered the baby, we had our answer – there was another one waiting to be delivered. It took almost two hours between babies, but thankfully they both came out head-first. In the end, they were both healthy and happy. My first time delivering twins!
